The Opportunity:

Are you a highly motivated self-starter with a demonstrated track record of executing high quality work? If so, Canadian Natural Resources has an amazing team waiting for you. Reporting to the Operations Foreman, the Wapiti Plant Operator is primarily responsible for managing all aspect of operation of a large Deep Cut gas plant.

As a Plant Operator, you will interact and coordinate with a team of operators and maintenance staff to ensure the safe, reliable and optimized operation of a gas plant that utilizes processes such as turbo expansion, turbine driven centrifugal compression, refrigeration and hydrocarbon liquid fractionation.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Integrate Health and Safety processes, systems and regulations into all on-site activities with a goal to deliver zero incidents and cause no harm to people
  • Keep current with all safety training required for the position
  • Be a leader and an active participant in promoting a safe workplace
  • Operate and maintain the facility in accordance with environmental processes, systems and regulations
  • Actively strive for a goal of continuously reducing impact on environment
  • Utilize your operational and technical knowledge to deliver safe and reliable operations
  • Safely start-up, operate, maintain and shut-down equipment and processes within the gas plant
  • Performing operational and technical assignments to ensure equipment and processes are optimized
  • Collaborate with maintenance, engineering and other members of the team to oversee the day-to-day plant activities
  • Troubleshoot equipment and safely perform Operator base maintenance tasks
  • Work with the various teams to perform preventative and corrective maintenance
  • Recommend modifications to the plant processes and equipment where performance can be improved
  • Identify opportunities and potential solutions to optimize operating costs
  • Maintain proper documentation, including operating logs, maintenance records and safety and environmental reports

Other Details:

  • Job location: 50km South of Grande Prairie
  • Shift schedule: 12 hours per day/night modified 28 day shift rotation
  • Eligible for relocation to Grande Prairie region. This is not a camp position
  • This is a hands-on role. Physical requirements may include climbing stairs and ladders, entering vessels and equipment for inspections, turning valves, dragging hoses, long hours on your feet etc.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma required
  • Minimum of 2 years of Oil and Gas industry experience
  • Minimum 4th class Power Engineering and/or Gas Process Operations certification
  • Preference will be given to candidates with relevant Journeyman certification, Technology diploma, 3rd Class Power engineering or a Technical degree
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license
  • Developed Computer skills
  • Strong communication, organizational and team skills, complemented with a strong work ethic
